The author of the program refuses to release the source code or port it to anything else. My mom teaches Chemistry at a community college and one of the labs they do is called "Habertech" and it's a program that only runs on Apple II's. I may try this someday I get really bored. Then once they were on my PC I could do as GRedner suggested and stip all formatting to get back to raw text files. The only way that I could think of was to use some sort of Terminal Emulation program with a transfer protocol such as Kermit. While I don't feel any immediate need to save any of this stuff I did think about it. Shoot I even hooked up the mouse and played a couple of rounds of Bill Budge's Pinball Construction Set. From my old AppleWorks formatted papers from Junior High School to the LOGO files that I had made. No floppy should work after being exposed to these conditions.īelive it or not I was able to read every floppy that I had. I would say that the attic would be 130 degrees in the summer and ~30 in the winter.
Keep in mind that the 5 1/4 floppies had been stored in the attic with the computer.
While I did expect it to power up I thought that the chances of the media being readable were slim to none. I recently recovered my old Apple IIc from my parents attic.
